Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to review problems and major issues related to private long-term care institutions. Long-term care institutions that play the role of service providers for 15 years in LTCI system have been expanded in quantity, but various problems have occurred in private establishment institutions. On the other hand, the review of roles and functions of private long-term care institutions has been insufficient. In this study, major issues related to private long-term care institutions were examined to provide user-centered services. The main findings are as follows.
First, there were problems with the role of private long-term care institutions in the supply structure. Second, there was an increase in fiscal expenditure by private long-term care institutions and a problem of financial stability. Third, in the delivery system, there was a governance problem divided into local governments and National Health Insurance Service. Fourth, there was a problem of limited service use by suppliers in long-term care services. Based on these research results, this study suggested regulation policies and implications for improving the system for long-term care institutions of long-term care insurance for the elderly in the future.
